Five of the Best Decorated Restaurants in the World
Gastronomy is one of the pleasures that human beings enjoy. And if you combine good eating with the other senses, you’ll have a satisfactory experience. For this reason, we wanted to show you some of the best-decorated restaurants in the world, which are very original as well.
The decoration is very important in restaurants, so much so that several awards value the architecture and interior design of restaurants, bars, food trucks, and any place that serves food.
Eating isn’t just a mere daily habit but a way to fill your senses with flavors, colors, smells, and textures. Hence the importance of decoration.
When wining and dining becomes an architectural experience
We worked hard to find the best-decorated restaurants in the world. Bon appétit!
1. One of the best-decorated restaurants in the world – Rómola, in Madrid, Spain
In 2018, this Madrid restaurant received the Restaurant & Bar Design Award for Interior Design. It’s a pity that it’s closed at the moment! Architect Andrés Jaque designed it. Also, it’s considered one of the most Instagrammable places in the world.
Its marble ceiling, neo-modern green armchairs, nature mixed with the coldness of stone, and the different heights and dining options made this place a favorite of hipsters when it was open.
2. Hueso, in Guadalajara, Mexico
This restaurant had to make our list of the best-decorated restaurants in the world. It was considered the best restaurant in America a few years ago. It’s designed in ceramic and more than 10,000 animal bones painted in white are artistically placed on the walls… yes, animal bones.
It was built in a house from the 1940s and is cozier than it seems. Believe it or not, there’s nothing macabre about it. Chef Alfonso Cadena himself said, “At first, when we told people about the bone concept, they were like, ‘What are you doing?‘ but the challenge was to do something apparently repulsive and make it aesthetically pleasing.”
3. One of the best-decorated restaurants in the world – Basic Kitchen, in Charleston, United States
This restaurant defines itself as a place where you’ll find honest food in an informal setting. It’s in a historic building with large floor-to-ceiling windows. Also, it’s patio is full of plants and herbs the chefs use to prepare the meals.
The place is very cozy and homey. The Thonet chair is the main piece of furniture, along with the wooden benches and stools that accompany it. The key here is the decorative elements, with plenty of antique furniture and warm vintage details.
4. Sketch Gallery, in London, England
This restaurant is the result of the collaboration between artist David Shrigley and architect and designer India Mahdavi. It’s beautiful because it’s completely pink!
Its style transports you to the glamor of the 50s thanks to its armchairs upholstered in pink velvet and floors that combine different types of marble. Also, the gold details give it even more elegance and the paintings on its walls make it look very chic.
5. Ixi’im at Chablé Resort & Spa, Yucatán, Mexico
The Prix Versailles is a UNESCO award. In 2017, Chablé Resort & Spa was named Best Hotel in the World.
Its restaurant is called Ixi’im. It was built with parts of the ruins of an old sisal factory that belongs to the hacienda where the hotel is located.
The designer, Paulina Morán, wanted to combine modern with ancient. Thus, she used materials such as wood, glass, and metal, combined with natural stones from the area.
This restaurant also exhibits the largest collection of tequila in the world. This collection is in a huge display case and is certified by the Guinness World Records.
Although you can find many more beautiful restaurants around the world, we hoped you enjoyed our list!
