Your house requires a dry climate, where there’s no excess moisture, as it can heat the environment and seriously harm your clothes. When leaks or wet stains appear on walls, they can reach your closet and consequently get onto your clothes.

All these toxic agents produce unpleasant odors but, also, they can harm your health because the cabinets and drawers are usually located in bedrooms and dressing rooms, places where you usually spend many hours.

Once you’ve detected the possible sources of development of unpleasant odors, it’s time to address how to generate good aromas in cabinets and drawers and how you can promote the well-being of your home. Let’s see four interesting formulas:

  1. Since moisture doesn’t favor your home at all, placing some bags of rice at different points of your closet will benefit you. In turn, it’s convenient that you place some rolls of scented paper so that, as you open the doors, you perceive a good aroma.
  2. Another way to prevent moisture is to create a potpourri of dried flowers impregnated with cologne and combined with salt and baking soda. Ideally, put them in a cloth bag and place it inside the drawers or hang them in your cabinets.
  3. Mothballs are effective and prevent the appearance of moths or other bugs that can harm your clothes. This way, you generate a good aroma. Remember that one mothball is enough, so you shouldn’t overdo it.
  4. A very interesting solution is to grate hand soap and put it in a small cloth bag. On the other hand, it’s also possible to use fabric softener pearls to make small bags with them. They generate a lasting heady scent.

Good aromas in cabinets and drawers – homemade air freshener

A clean and organized closet.

Instead of resorting to commercial products that lose their smell in the short term, you can easily create your own homemade air freshener.

The first thing you must do is buy the fabric softener that you like the most. Then, pour it into a large container and mix it with some neutral gelatin sheets. This will help you give it a firmer consistency.

The next step will be to put this mixture in ice cubes or some small mold. Let rest for 14 hours. After that time, it’ll acquire a firm and resistant shape. From there, you can put each piece in a cloth bag to place it in cabinets and drawers.

Other useful practices to generate good aromas in cabinets and drawers

Organized drawers.

Good habits help you on a daily basis. In addition, they provide you with a better mental balance and promote personal well-being. For this reason, it’s convenient for you to ventilate the house every morning and, in turn, open the closet doors.

As a general rule, they’re usually completely closed and you only open them to take an item of clothing. You should ventilate them, in addition to having some natural air fresheners.

In the case of drawers, it isn’t that easy to be continuously opening them to ventilate them. Therefore, we recommend reordering and organizing them. In addition, you should clean them whenever possible.
