Bottle racks for your kitchen
If you’re one of those people that enjoys a glass of wine with dinner, while preparing food, or you love treating your guests to a rare vintage, a bottle rack might be just what you need.
Having somewhere you can store and display your wine bottles is the dream of wine-lovers everywhere. You might think that this would require some major renovation work or a huge financial investment. Fortunately for us, this doesn’t have to be the case.
You don’t need much space to install a bottle rack in your kitchen. With the right one, you can make sure your bottles are kept in great condition, beautifully displayed, and easy to access at any time.
The most important rule to bear in mind is that you should never install bottle racks close to heat sources such as ovens, or windows, where they’ll be exposed to direct sunlight throughout the day. People often decide to put bottle racks high up in their kitchen (eg. on top of cupboards). However, this isn’t necessarily the best option. After all, the key is to make sure they’re accessible at all times.
Bottle rack ideas for your kitchen
Have you realized you’ve got too many bottles of wine, and nowhere to put them? Do you like organizing your bottles in a specific way, so that you know which one to open on which occasion? Then bottle racks are the solution to all your problems. There are hundreds of different designs to choose from!
1. Hanging wall racks
When you think about bottle racks, the first image that comes to mind is probably a long piece of furniture with an integrated bottle rack underneath the countertop. However, if you’re feeling creative, you can make your own and place your bottle rack wherever you want.
For example, you could take inspiration from the image above. Arrange three pieces of wood vertically, making a hole in of each one, just wide enough to hold the neck of your wine bottles. However, it’s important to be careful not to bump into it, and make sure your bottles are firmly secured.
2. Built-in bottle racks
If you’re designing the kitchen of your dreams, built-in bottle racks are ideal, allowing you to choose the perfect place for your wine collection. They can be installed between two pieces of furniture – such as cupboards or counters – and don’t take up too much space. For example, a narrow column of shelves is all you need to store your bottles.
3. PVC tube bottle racks
Do you love crafts, recycling, and DIY? If so, this is the perfect idea for you. You can buy or reuse PVC tubes to make your own bottle rack, making sure they’re wide enough to store and remove your bottles easily.
Cut your tubes to around 20 inches in length, and then glue them together to form the structure for your wine rack. If you want, you can also add smaller tubes to serve as decoration, and help to balance the overall look. Then, simply display your DIY bottle rack on a table or countertop.
4. Multipurpose crate
Decorating with rustic wooden crates is all the rage at the moment. You can place them horizontally and use them to store vegetables, or vertically to make it easier to see everything at a glance.
Needless to say, they can also be transformed into beautiful and original wine racks. You can either store the bottles one on top of the other or fit a couple of shelves to separate your bottles. This will make it much easier to grab the bottle you need.
If you have enough space, and you fancy yourself a bit of a wine connoisseur, you could create a much larger wine rack, placing several crates one on top of the other.
5. Wine cooler
These days, wine coolers are just another kitchen appliance. In fact, in recent years, they’ve become almost as popular as dishwashers and microwaves. Because they’re fairly small in size, they can be installed underneath your countertops, or built into kitchen islands.
Unlike your refrigerator, these coolers will always keep your wine at the perfect temperature. And, of course, it will give your kitchen a more professional feel, perfect for any wine aficionado.
