How to Organize Your Drawers Like Marie Kondo
If there’s one aspect of our homes that deserves our attention, it’s the drawers. They’re versatile and can be used to store almost anything while keeping your home looking neat and tidy. Today, we’re going to tell you about everything you can keep in your drawers, and how to organize them like Marie Kondo.
It’s all about the drawers
Drawers are one of the best ways to keep your house organized. You can store all kinds of different objects, keeping them safe from dust and dirt. Drawers also come in all different sizes, and can be placed high up or low down – it all depends on your individual needs. Whatever you’re looking for, you’re sure to find a drawer that’ll solve all your problems.
One of the keys to making the very most of your drawers is to use dividers and accessories to help keep everything in order. That way, you can store a variety of different things in the same drawer, without everything getting jumbled together.
Clothes drawers
Marie Kondo has taught us how to fold every item of clothing in our closets. By using her vertical folding technique, you’ll be able to see every item clearly and make the very most of your space.
What items can you store vertically?
Everything! Or at least, pretty much everything. And if you learn how to do it with one piece of clothing, you can do it with almost anything. Let’s start with T-shirts: imagine the T-shirt is divided into thirds. Fold one third into the center, and then do the same with the other to form a rectangle. Next, fold the T-shirt in half lengthwise, and then again. By the time you’re done, it should be strong enough to stand upright on its own.
You’ll need to use a slightly different method when it comes to folding tank tops: start by folding the top into thirds, bringing in first one side, then the other. Then, fold the top in half, including the straps as part of the overall length of the shirt. Finally, fold it into thirds again, this time creating horizontal folds. Again, it should now be able to stand upright.
This same technique can be used for folding scarves, jeans, towels, underwear, and even socks.
Vertical storage is also a great way to store children’s board games. If your drawer is deep enough, you can place the board games on their side, so that you can see each one clearly. This means that you’ll also be able to take them out and put them away without the whole tower falling on top of you.
Organize your drawers like Marie Kondo – the advantages of vertical organizing

- It allows you to make the most of your drawer space.
- It helps you maintain order, as it’s much easier to find and take out items without having to rummage around.
How else can you use your drawers?
You can use your drawers to store almost anything, as long as you keep a few key points in mind:

Drawer dividers are the perfect way to keep your personal items organized, from glasses to keys, phone chargers, and even jewelry. There’s a divider for pretty much anything.
With ventilation
Basket drawers are super useful, but they aren’t generally suitable for kitchens. Keeping all your bedding and towels in a closet with these types of drawers will allow you to see everything you have, and keep them smelling fresher and cleaner for longer.
Organize your drawers like Marie Kondo – the kitchen
The kitchen is one of the places where drawers are truly essential. Cutlery, utensils, and even spices can be stored in drawers, where they’ll stay perfectly organized for longer.
In the bathroom
If you want to keep chaos at bay, drawers are a must-have in any bathroom. Store your make-up in plastic boxes, and arrange your shampoos and creams so that you can use them whenever you need them. Bring drawers into your life, and you can say hello to an ordered home. Marie Kondo would be proud of you.
