Nowadays, party tables have become essential at all kinds of celebrations. These tables are almost like a representation of the party itself and can be used to reflect a certain theme or style. Decorating party tables has become a true art form.

Every day, hundreds of photos are uploaded to social media, showing party tables that have been beautifully decorated for birthdays and other celebrations. Each one is brightly colored and exquisitely decorated.

If you want to dazzle your guests with your own fantastic party tables, then this is the article for you. Today, we’ll show you some of the different ways you can decorate your tables, so that you can get inspired to create your own designs.

1. Decorating party tables – choosing a theme

One of the best ways to ensure your party decor is a success is to decide on a set theme. That way, all your decorations will revolve around one idea, making it easier to decide what to include.

The theme you choose can be reflected in the plates, glasses and napkins, and even the food. Cupcakes are one of the most popular party foods of all time and can be decorated in all kinds of different ways, helping to brighten your table and highlight the theme of your event.

If you’re decorating for a children’s birthday party, you could also buy or make themed birthday cakes decorated with their favorite characters.

2. Balloons

Balloons are an effective and low-cost way to decorate, and there are so many different options to choose from when it comes to decorating party tables.

The simplest option is just to choose the different colors you like. When it comes to children’s parties, there should be an explosion of color, bringing a sense of joy and energy. For other celebrations and events, we would recommend sticking to just two main colors.

If the party involves a sit-down lunch or dinner, you could attach balloons to the chairs. If you’d rather not use the chairs, you could simply arrange them around each of the tables.

3. Placing your party tables

It’s also important to think carefully about where you want to place your table. If you want to add more decorations on and around your party table, we would recommend placing it up against a wall. That way, you can decorate the wall space too.

Naturally, the wall should be decorated in the same colors you’ve used for your table. You can use all kinds of different materials here, including vinyl decals, or colorful banners.

If you do decide to decorate with banners, you can combine them with other elements, such as balloons, garlands, or other items that reflect the theme of your party.

4. Garden parties

If your backyard is large enough, we’d recommend holding your party outside. The party table and all the other decorations will look even more beautiful in a wide-open space with plenty of natural light.

5. Table cloths – an essential for any party table

Choosing the right table cloth.

While they can go somewhat unnoticed with all the other objects and decorations around, table cloths are also an important part of decorating your party table. Again, it’s important to choose colors that match the theme of your party.

  • If you’ve decided to use warm colors for your decor, be sure to choose a table cloth in the same color so as not to create too much contrast.
  • If your decor features a whole range of different colors, the best option is to use a white table cloth so that it stands out.
  • As we’ve already mentioned, people often choose to decorate with two main colors. In this case, the table cloth should match one of these two shades so as not to break with the theme.

6. Names and initials

One of the most popular ways to decorate for a party or celebration is to hang balloons that spell out the name or initials of the guest of honor.

The balloons and the word you spell out should be in proportion with the size of the table. For example, if you have a large table, you should be able to spell out their whole name. If you have a small table, you may need to choose smaller balloons, or only spell out their initials.

These balloon letters can be purchased ready-made from most party stores. Some even have lights in them so that you can use them at night.

If you don’t want balloons, you can make the letters out of other materials, such as cork. That way, you can make them whatever size and shape you like, and decorate them however you like.
