Friendly decor – Pottery Barn launches a collection inspired by Friends
However, if there’s something this television series gave us, it was the fabulous eclectic decor. Everyone wanted to have a little piece of Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) and Monica (Courteney Cox) in our homes, their utensils, their furniture… everything! So perhaps this is why Pottery Barn launched a collection inspired by it.
The purple wall
Similarly, there were people who dared to paint their walls purple having no idea it was inspired by John Shaffner. This is because he designed the set and intended to capture the attention of the viewer while they flipped channels. Oh boy, did he succeed!
The mix of styles
As we said above, the best feature of the main apartment had was its eclectic style. So, the team wanted to give the appearance that everything in that house came from different places. This is typical of young people with small paychecks who share an apartment.
The golden frame on the door
One of the key elements was the golden frame adorning the peephole in the door of the girls’ house. They say they left it there randomly during the filming of the first episode. Amazingly, it became a signature item.
Other objects in the Pottery Barn collection
Joey and Chandler’s house also had several objects you’ll surely recognize. There was the Etch A Sketch on one side, by the entrance door. Its message was different every episode.
Another classic item is the porcelain dog Joey bought. Do you remember his name? His name was Pat. It was actually a gift a friend gave actress Jennifer Aniston for luck.
A collection inspired by Friends – this is what you can expect
Fans went crazy the moment the furniture firm announced the launching of their collection through their social networks. Their statement said, “We’ve brought back the beloved apothecary table to celebrate Friends‘ 25th anniversary, along with a collection of accessories worthy of “Central Perk.”
Pottery Barn launches a collection inspired by Friends and decides to use the apothecary table, the main protagonist of a season 6 episode. Ah, the great moments it brought us.
So, let’s put it into context for those of you who don’t remember it. When Rachel goes to live at Phoebe’s house, she buys the table along with other pieces of furniture at Pottery Barn. Phoebe hates that store, so Rachel must make up a hilarious story in order to avoid having to get rid of her new acquisition.
Pottery Barn received many calls from people asking for this table and the other objects Rachel bought. So they thought it would be a good idea to give followers what they had been wanting for years.
In addition to this colonial-style furniture, we can also buy the huge cups they drank coffee out of while sitting on the sofa at the Central Perk cafe. The plates have some commemorative drawings, as well as other details.
However, the apothecary table is the most desired piece by everyone. It’s priced around 1,000 dollars.
More inspiration
Pottery Barn is ready to become a benchmark when it comes to affordable decoration. In fact, they’re trying to compete with IKEA. Will they succeed? Not only that, but they also want to launch a collection of furniture and accessories inspired by Harry Potter and Star Wars.
Finally, if you’re one of those people who continue binging on Friends, don’t miss out on this collection and bring a little bit of Central Perk to your home.
