The boho-chic style is becoming more and more popular and couldn’t be more fashionable right now. We’re constantly seeing people decorate their bedroom with a boho-chic look: f ree, no rules, rebellious, and extremely colorful. It mixes various styles, time periods, and cultures, with a beautiful, elegant result.

But you still have to balance all the colors, because there are quite a few. If you can do that, you’ll be filling your space with personality and character.

Today, we’re going to give you some ideas to decorate your own bedroom with a boho-chic look. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, this style works well with all kinds of rooms. So get going and get boho-chic!

Boho-chic ideas to decorate your bedroom

1. String lights

String lights give any bedroom the perfect kind of warmth and that special boho-chic touch.

One way to give your room this romantic look is to string the lights along your headboard or around a mirror. Make sure they’re either white or yellow. White lights make for a more vintage-looking space and yellow ones give off warmth. You can choose the color based on what kind of energy you want to transmit.

You could also put the lights around prints, photos, and paintingsIf you have any photos you’ve taken, you can put a string along the wall and hang the pictures from it with clothespins. As a final touch, you can put the string lights above them. You will absolutely adore the way it turns out.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a place to hang the lights. Another option is to put the lights in a vintage jar. You can turn them on at night, and they’ll look amazing–just like a lamp!

If you want something more original, you can make shapes or drawings with the lights. A star, a heart, or even something more elaborate. It’s all just a question of how creative you are!

We’ve also seen lights on top of shelves and bookcases on Pinterest and Tumblr. If there’s a spot with books or other objects you want to stand out, you can hang some lights over it.

2. Decorative tapestries

If you want to decorate your bedroom in a boho-chic style, you also have to pay attention to detail, especially with the fabrics you use. We absolutely love using tapestries with mandalas or other interesting patterns.

Boho-hippy tapestries couldn’t be more in fashion. They’re great, whether you use one for your wall or your bed, as a couch cover or rug, or even just as a beach towel. We couldn’t love them more. They give bedrooms life and add a chic vibe no matter where you put them.

If you want something more exotic and colorful in your bedroom, you can also buy ones with floral or patchwork patterns. Or, you could combine fabrics. Velvet, crochet, and afghan are some of our favorites.

Another idea is to use the same fabric to make decorative cushions for your bed or sofa. If one thing stands out with boho-chic, it’s the cushions, pillows, and sheets. So don’t stop yourself: put them on your bed, too.

You can also use the same fabric to make dreamcatchers. This really gives a room a bohemian look, and will give your space a mystic/hippie touch that also looks amazing!

These kinds of tapestries should play a major role in your bedroom. They’ll give it a much calmer, more casual vibe.

3. A boho-chic pallet headboard

A headboard is a fundamental part of any bedroom. It also plays a big part in a boho-chic style.

One thing we’ve been seeing a lot of lately are headboards made of wooden pallets. You can do just about anything with these and not have to worry about money.

The only thing you need to do first is make sure you have enough space for it.  Pallets generally take up a lot of space, so you don’t want to risk cramping your room.

If you’re handy, you can do it yourself. All you need are a few pallets and screws to fix them in place. Once you have them in the shape you like, you can use some varnish to help the headboard last longer, and you’re done!
