Having a terrace is a luxury – who doesn’t like to have a cold drink while enjoying the sunshine?

If you have a terrace, this is the article for you. Here you’ll find the best tips to turn your terrace into the best part of your home.

Working on having the best terrace

Maybe you aren’t making the best out of your terrace. Many people just keep terraces as storage spaces. Now that summer’s here, it’s worth working on having the best terrace possible, right?

Your terrace can benefit from outdoor furniture.

In need of reshaping

The first step to start enjoying your terrace is to start working on it. For starters, clear all the trash and other things you keep there.

Once you’ve cleared some space, start to clean the floors, tiles, handles, walls, and doors, as well as the outdoor furniture, if any. Don’t forget to also clean the cushions, umbrellas, lamps, everything on your terrace.

An orchard on your balcony

Take some time to take care of your plants, to clean their leaves, to paint the pots, to repot any plant that needs it. This can be a relaxing activity. A terrace with plants transmits a sense of peace and a connection with nature. Plants can renew your energy every day.

If you don’t have a lot of space on your terrace, try a vertical garden and a shelf with plants or a lattice with an ivy.

Your terrace can have a cozy feel if you add a hammock.

Create an idyllic setting

As little as your balcony may be, you can still transform it into an oasis. You’ll need a table, a couple of small chairs and a few cushions to enjoy the fresh air alone, or in the company of your loved ones.

A good option for a small space is wall folding tables. These take up little room and work as well as any table would. Using folding furniture makes it easier to easily store it so you can use the space for other activities.

You could improvise as well. If you don’t have outdoor furniture, adapt and take some indoor furniture outside to create a relaxing space for everybody. Rattan furniture is ideal for this.

Meals on the terrace

Now that days are longer than nights and the good weather is here to stay, it’s time to make the best out of your terrace and organize an alfresco meal. This is great to escape from the routine and everybody can enjoy a fun and relaxing family time.

If you don’t have enough seats for everybody, take out the chairs in the dining room. What matters is that everybody can enjoy the fresh air together.

Another great idea is to give each family member a task: prepping the salad, making lemonade, serving appetizers. Don’t forget about dessert or coffee. A meal outside always brings out great conversations.

A night on the terrace

Terraces are a fantastic space to relax during the day. At night, they become an intimate place. Lighting is key to being able to enjoy the stars. Think about buying solar LED lamps. These can transform sunshine into light at night, so you don’t need to worry about cables or outlets.

How about a romantic dinner, a long conversation, having a drink under the moonlight, or an open-air cinema? After all of these experiences, you’ll appreciate your terrace a lot more.

Your terrace can have many uses – from being a place to exercise or a reading nook to the perfect place for your kids to craft things.
