6 Tricks for Cleaning Your Home Fast

Last update: 17 December, 2018

Each and every one of us loves having a tidy home, but we don’t all have the time to clean up as much as we’d like to. But that doesn’t mean we have to choose between a clean home or losing an entire weekend. In our post today, we’ll explain some fast cleaning tips to leave your home perfect.

How can you clean fast and effectively?

You might think that you can’t really tidy up your home with a quick clean, or maybe you think that you’ll have to clean it every day. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth! Read up on our following tricks to speed up your chores while still getting perfect results.

1. Keeping things in order

It’s easier to clean your home if everything’s in its place. In order to do that, you should get used to putting things away after you use them. After eating, wash the dishes; after showering, throw your clothes in the laundry bin and hang up your towels; or, when you get home, hang your coat on the coat-rack.

By putting everything away, we won’t waste precious time having to do this when we’re cleaning. Instead, we’d be able to just focus on cleaning itself.

2. Remove dust with a damp rag

You can’t keep dust from accumulating on your furniture or in the corners of your home. Even if we clean daily, dust will always be there. But to keep dust away for a little longer, we suggest dampening a rag with soapy water and wiping off the dust. You can also use wax on your furniture to keep dust bunnies and other particles from building up too much.

3. Wash your windows periodically

While cleaning glass windows and mirrors is pretty time consuming, we’re making a mistake if we only clean them every so often. Instead of forgetting about them for most of the year, if you clean your windows weekly or every two and a half weeks or so, cleaning off the gunk will be much easier to do.

The best way to clean windows is first wiping with a rag and some warm, soapy water. After, dry them off with balls of newspaper. Your windows will be spotless.

4. Focus on the bathroom and kitchen cleaning

Cleaning our home isn’t a complicated job, but it does require a certain degree of concentration. This is especially true for areas where bacteria are around at all times. We are, of course, talking about the bathroom and kitchen.

In these two rooms, you need to take extra care to leave them perfectly clean. First and foremost, we suggest changing some habits to help you keep things clean. For example, after showering, remove hair from the shower drain or use the toilet brush to clean off any stains.

As for the kitchen, washing dishes, utensils as well as pots and pans after using them is a great technique to keep things clean. Additionally, wiping countertops and tiles after cooking is also a good idea.

A deep clean would be great for the oven or fridge every fifteen days or month as long as nothing spills or stains it earlier. If the latter does happen, you’d have to take care of it along with the rest of your weekly chores.

5. Shining floors

6 tricks floors

You should sweep your floors to remove dust and other loose particles like breadcrumbs, dog hair, etc. every day (or every other day). Sweeping daily will translate into easier mopping for your actual cleaning day. If you have a pet at home, we really recommend using a vacuum.

For mopping, you can use cleaning products that are sold at supermarkets or other stores. Or more a more natural alternative, a great cleaner is a mixture of vinegar, lemon, and water. It disinfects and cleans at the same time. Don’t worry about the smell, it’ll dissipate in a matter of minutes once you open the windows.

 6. A deep, monthly clean

Sure, we’ll always have something better to do than clean our home. But you should dedicate an entire morning or weekend to really clean your home once a month.

We’re talking about those spots or furniture pieces that you don’t clean often: curtains, sofas, children’s toys, fridges, ovens, closet interiors… Sticking to a monthly clean will make your future weekly cleaning tasks easier.
