Rooms with white walls allow us to enjoy a bright and spacious environment. But to some people, they can seem a little boring. So, in the following article, we’ll give you some tips on how you can decorate white-painted rooms.

How to decorate a bedroom with white walls

If you’ve decided to leave the walls of your room white, whether for practical reasons or to make the room seem brighter and more spacious, you can still have fun decorating it. Take a look at some of our advice:

1. Identify the area you want to decorate

The idea of having white walls is not to overfill them with pictures or decorative items that will spoil the feeling of spaciousness that this color brings. So, our advice is that you should choose just a small section of the room to decorate.

Creating a feature wall is a great way to decorate rooms with white walls.

2. Combine with black

The classic black-and-white combo looks great in rooms with lots of light, neutral colors. For example, you can put up old-fashioned black-and-white photographs or even a photo mural. The idea is to play around with the colors, without spoiling the predominantly light decor.

3. Add bright colors

You can also add plenty of bright colors to rooms with white walls. As long as you keep things in one section, this can be a wonderful look. We’re not just talking about wall decorations, but also the objects on your nightstand, other pieces of furniture, or even objects on the floor.

You can also add some color to your room using curtains, cushions, blankets or rugs.

4. Paint your furniture white

This isn’t only an option in nurseries or children’s bedrooms, more and more adults are choosing to fill their rooms with white furniture too. If you have furniture you don´t like, you could always paint it yourself.

On the other hand, if you’re buying new furniture, make sure it’s white. When combined with the walls, your room will look beautiful and bright. Of course, you can also combine white furniture with other colors – both pastel tones and bright colors – designs, and textures. Remember to use colors that work well together for a great final result!

5. Gray

If you don’t want a bedroom with white walls and black or colored decorations, why not try gray! This is a really delicate neutral tone, and best of all, it’s perfect for both men’s and women’s bedrooms, which means it’s also great for couples’ bedrooms.

If you don't fancy a bedroom with white walls, why not try gray?

Gray goes well with white. It’s elegant, discreet and modern, all at the same time. Why not try it out in your home?

6. Pick a special feature

As well as choosing just one isolated zone to decorate, another interesting idea is to use one of the “empty” white walls to hang a brightly colored eye-catching painting. The bigger the better. Everyone will immediately focus on this area of the room.

It could be a painting you did yourself, a photo mural, a watercolor painting, a replica of a famous painting or some other decoration you’ve made yourself.

7. Add lights

Bedrooms with white walls are usually already bright enough, but if you want a beautiful, romantic look, don’t hesitate to add some extra lights.

Nowadays, you can buy strings of LED lights (similar to the fairy lights you use to decorate your Christmas tree) and use them to decorate your walls, the edge of your mirrors, above your windows, or even your furniture. They are very affordable, and can completely change the look of your room. Why not give it a try?

Bedrooms with white walls look even more beautiful when decorated with fairy lights.

8. Paint one wall a different color

Finally, we recommend that you add a twist to your white room by painting one wall a different color. It could be the wall behind your bed, one of the side walls, the wall opposite the door… It’s really up to you! You could also put up faux-brick wallpaper to create an industrial or modern-style bedroom.

Bedrooms with white walls are a blank canvas that you can decorate however you want. And let’s not forget how great they are for bringing brightness and tranquillity to our lives.
